ADMINISTRATION 

  • This Week
    • Water & Wastewater Committee and Board of Mayor & Aldermen meetings were held on Tuesday, 5/14. 
    • A staff meeting was held on Wednesday, 5/15.
    • I (Nolan Ming) met with property owners regarding stormwater issues.
    • I worked on several items related to the budget.

    • The Parks & Recreation Committee and a Special Called meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen will meet on Tuesday, 5/21.

POLICE 

  • This Week
    • We are excited to add a portable message board to our resources. Thank you to the board and Tennessee Highway Safety Office for your assistance in these efforts. 
    • Tips can be given by calling the criminal investigation division at 931-473-3386. If no one answers, you may leave a message, and you may also remain anonymous if you wish. 
    • This week, bicycle helmets and lights for children were provided as the result of a combined grant awarded to both McMinnville and Warren County.
    • Congratulations to the class of 2024! Graduation events will be underway, so please ensure you are giving yourself added time due to increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic congestion in these areas. 
  • Next Week
    • Personnel will attend various trainings and events, including some combined opportunities with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. 
    • We continue efforts with grant opportunities for resources that benefit our community. 

FIRE 

  • This Week
    • On Monday, we had about 40 first graders from East Side School for a station tour. We showed them around and talked about fire safety.
    • B shift installed smoke alarms.
    • We have begun our annual flow testing on all fire hydrants.
    • Signed off on two certificates of use and occupancy.
    • On Saturday, we will be at the Milner Center to spray down all the runners for the Color Run.
  • Next Week
    • Will be at West Elementary and Bobby Ray Schools to spray down kids.
    • We will continue fire hydrant testing.
    • On Monday, we will be doing ( Handle with Care) training.
    • Welcome to our two new Firefighters, Nikolas Kolster and Christopher Zalewski!

PARKS & RECREATION
  • This Week
    • Continued work on Gilley Pool for opening day
    • Big thanks to Parks and Rec maintenance staff and Public Works staff for flood cleanup at Riverfront and Pepper Branch.
    • Mowing/prepping ballfields for baseball and softball games
    • Conducted public input meeting for Rocket Park Renovation on Sat, May 11th, and Mon, May 13th
    • Caney Fork Annual Membership in the back parking lot of Milner Center- May 16th
    • Project Graduation at Milner Center- May 17th
    • Generations Color Run- May 18th at the Milner Center
  • Next Week
    • Continued work on Gilley Pool for opening day
    • Mowing/prepping ballfields for baseball and softball games

PARK THEATER

    • Great dance recitals at the theater over the last two weeks with huge crowds for all five individual shows!
    • Recently announced and opened up registrations for our 2024 Kids Summer Drama Camps that we’ll be hosting in partnership with Warren Arts in June and July!

WATER & WASTEWATER
  • This Week
    • Ran several service calls and locates.
    • Reworked water service corp on Willow Way.
    • Trimmed and painted at the water maintenance building.
    • Mowed all pump stations.
    • Mowed at the plants and at the shop.
    • Checked all pump stations.
    • Installed 2 new ¾ water taps on Red Rd.
    • Installed 2 new 4-inch sewer taps on Red Road.
    • Set a new meter for service in South Chancery.
    • Black bagged fire hydrant on Caldwell and Spring- will be replaced.
    • Attending operator expo in Lebanon, TN.
    • The Fire dept will be flushing hydrants this week and next.
    • Collected Quarterly samples at the Water Plant.
  • Next Week
    • We will be repairing a water service on Winding Way and working at 202 Bell Location along with regular maintenance items.

PUBLIC WORKS 
  • This Week
    • Worked on the sidewalks on Garfield St. 
    • Cleaned up from the storms. 
    • Hailed off debris from Pepper Branch Park from the flood. 
    • Mowed ROWs 
    • Cleaned storm drains. 
    • Put down some stop bars at intersections. 
  • Next Week
    • Working on the sidewalk on Garfield St. 
    • Mowing ROWs. 
    • Work on some stormwater flooding problems.
