ADMINISTRATION 

  • This Week
    • The Parks & Recreation Committee and a Special Called meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen met on Tuesday, 5/21. 
    • I (Nolan Ming) worked on several items related to the budget.
    • I worked with several different department directors, staff, and consultants on various projects throughout the city.
  • Next Week
    • City offices will be closed on Monday, 5/27/24, for Memorial Day. Monday's trash route will be completed on Tuesday, 5/28.
    • Board of Mayor & Aldermen meetings will be held on Tuesday, 5/28. 
    • A staff meeting will be held on Wednesday, 5/29.

POLICE 

  • This Week
    • Tips can be given by calling the criminal investigation division at 931-473-3386. If no one answers, you may leave a message, and you may also remain anonymous if you wish. 
    • We were trained on our new narcotics testing technology resource with a company representative. These materials were obtained through grant funding. 
  • Next Week
    • We continue efforts with grant opportunities for resources that benefit our community. 

FIRE 

  • This Week
    • Sprayed down kids at Bobby Ray and West Elementary School
    • Went to a training for the (Handle With Care) programs
    • Still doing fire hydrant testing
    • All shifts are doing training with the two new firefighters
    • Firefighter Ian DeArmond and Chris Kepley have taken their Firefighter 1 Live Burn Class at TFACA
    • Congratulations to Firefighter Christopher Zalewski for passing and getting his Firefighter 1 Commission Certification
    • A big thanks to Riverpark Hospital for inviting us out for lunch for EMS week!

    • We will continue fire hydrant testing.
    • Fire inspections of businesses around town.

PARKS & RECREATION
  • This Week
    • Continued work on Gilley Pool for opening day
    • Big thanks to maintenance, Katie, and pool staff. We received a 98 on our health inspection, and the concession stand got a 97!
    • Conducting staff training for guards and front desk attendants at the pool
    • Mowing/prepping ballfields for baseball and softball games
    • Warren County Annual 4-H Banquet- May 23rd.  Room 101
    • Movies in the Park-  May 24th at Pistole Park
    • Gilley Pool opening day- May 25th
    • Milner Center closed for Memorial Day- May 27th
  • Next Week
    • The first week of the 2024 pool season
    • Water aerobics begins next week
    • Preparing for kids' camp summer program to begin on June 3rd
    • The summer aerobics schedule begins next Tuesday

    • BOMA Special Called Meeting
    • Finalizing ADA transition plan updates
    • A Floodplain Administration Audit occurred.
    • Met with several developers for potential projects.
    • Zach Wray, our new code enforcement officer, started with us. Welcome, Zach!

WATER & WASTEWATER
  • This Week
    • Read meters throughout the city.
    • Ran several service calls and locates.
    • Cut roots from a manhole on Post Hill Court.
    • Swept Greenway to remove debris from recent flood.
    • Checked service lines as needed for upcoming paving projects.
    • Replaced sewer popper valve on Calvin Street.
    • Cutoffs for non-pays (51) 0n 5/21/2024.
    • Repaired sewer service on College Street.
    • Replaced a ¾ water service on Winding Way.
    • Vacuumed out lower basin for grit at wastewater.
    • Checked all pump stations, Water, and Sewer.
    • Mowed all properties for the water dept.
    • Installed a cleanout on West End Ave.
    • Repaired sewer service on Hill Street.
    • TV of a storm drain for Public Works on Beersheba Street.
    • Repaired a 2-inch water leak on Bratten Street.
    • Attended Region 4 Meeting in Byrdstown (Ricky, Heath, Eric, and Peyton) on 5/23/2024.
    • Wastewater Plant Tour for Fleming Training on 5/23/2024.
    • Washed the sludge basin at the Water Plant.
  • Next Week
    • We will be repairing a sewer service on Rebel Hill and a water service on Center Street.
    • We will also work on service line replacements on Towles Ave. for paving projects.

PUBLIC WORKS 
  • This Week
    • Dug out and set forms for the sidewalks on Garfield St. 
    • Mowed ROWs 
    • Worked on some stormwater problems we had during the flood.  
    • Worked on some work orders we had come in. 
    • Mowed the landfill.

    • Pouring concrete on Garfield St. 
    • Mowing ROWs. 
    • Work on some stormwater flooding problems.
