ADMINISTRATION 

  • This Week
    • Tonight is the night for a BEACH PARTY in Downtown McMinnville! The Real Four On The Floor Band is back to our Main Street Live! stage! Come dance the night away on Security Federal Savings Bank West Lawn! Vendors open at 6 pm. Music starts at 7 pm!
    • I (Nolan Ming) met with representatives from the Tennessee Economic Development Department, Upper Cumberland Development District, Middle Tennessee Industrial Development Association, and Austin Consulting to review the results of the Property Evaluation Program on Thursday, 6/20. 
    • Worked with Ben Lomand Managed IT Services and IT Director Scotty Lawson on installing a new audio/visual system for meeting broadcasts.
    • Worked on setting up a system that allows us to understand the needs, concerns, and our residents' overall sentiments to help us provide the best service and make the best decisions possible for McMinnville.
    • Responded to several citizen inquiries.

POLICE 

  • This Week
    • Tips can be given by calling the criminal investigation division at 931-473-3386. If no one answers, you may leave a message and remain anonymous if you wish. 
    • With extremely high temperatures expected throughout the week and weekend, we would like to remind you to take frequent breaks when working outside. Ensure adequate water intake and proper sun protection, and avoid extended periods of time in the heat if you can. Also, make sure your pets have adequate water and shelter from the elements if they are outside.

    • We will continue accepting school supply donations for our 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges Game on August 1st. Please drop off donations at the City Hall Building, 3rd Floor. Drop off hours between 7 am - 5 pm M-F. 

FIRE 

  • This Week
    • Congratulations to Deputy Chief Marty White for getting his car seat proxy technician certification!
    • Met at the airport for an upcoming airport emergency drill
    • Completed 3 interviews for firefighters on Thursday
    • Completed firefighter agility tests at the Milner Center
    • Congratulations to Ian DeArmond and Chris Zalewski for getting their Advanced Extrication certification at the Smokey Mountain weekend!
    • Congratulations to Colby Pearsall and Ber Bess for getting their Live Fire Instructor certification at the Smokey Mountain weekend! 
  • Next Week
    • Will be doing fireworks tent inspections
    • Will be having a tabletop emergency drill at the airport

PARKS & RECREATION

  • This Week
    • Working on bid specification for tennis court renovation.
    • Hosting state tournament for 9-10-year-olds on Dottie West and Sam Martin fields starting today through Saturday.
    • Gilley Pool is very busy, and the numbers are good.
    • Received new ballfield signs and wayfinding signage on Wednesday.

    • Finalizing 4th of July downtown vendors and activities.
    • Late registration for Fall Soccer sign-ups will begin on Monday.
    • Summer soccer camp registrations are ongoing.  Sign up now!
  • Upcoming
    • 4th of July Downtown Celebration- July 4th on Main Street.
    • Independence Day Freedom Fest Celebration- July 4th at the Milner Center complex. Festivities start at 5 p.m., and fireworks start at 9 p.m.

WATER & WASTEWATER

  • This Week
    • Several service calls and locates.
    • Read meters
    • Picked up pumps from Wascon in Livingston.
    • Cleaned up limbs from 127 Tank clean-up.
    • Cutoffs for non-pay on 6/18.
    • Flushed dead-end lines and hydrants as needed.
    • Abandoned sewer line located on Beersheba Rd.
    • Replaced hydrant assembly on Northgate Dr.
    • Checked pump stations.
    • Mowed and trimmed as needed.
    • Cleaned up shop and hauled scrap.
    • Continued work on inventory.
    • Normal maintenance and operations at the water plants.
    • Tinsley should start work on the 202 Bell parking lot on 6/21/2024

    • Will be counting inventory for the upcoming audit along with normal maintenance and operations.


PUBLIC WORKS 

  • This Week
    • Repaired a sidewalk at 601 North Chancery Street. 
    • Excavated, set forms, and poured concrete for the sidewalks on Garfield St. 
    • Mowed ROWs. 
    • Continued working on some stormwater problems we had during the flood.  
    • Worked on some work orders.

    • Excavate and pour concrete for the sidewalk on Garfield St. 
    • Mowing ROWs. 
    • Continue working on some flooding problems we have.
