Administration 

  • This Week
    • I (Nolan Ming) worked on the upcoming budget.
    • Committee and Board of Mayor & Aldermen meetings were held on Tuesday, 3/26. 
    • Staff meeting held on Wednesday, 3/27.
    • I attended the Middle Tennessee City Managers Association meeting on Thursday, 3/28.
    • I tracked several different items impacting municipalities that are moving through the State legislative process.
    • I met with several community members about different issues.
    • I worked on updating the Animal Control Ordinance. 
  • Next Week
    • I will meet with consultants and engineers on potential projects.
    • City offices will be closed on Friday, 3/29, in observance of Good Friday. 
    • I will continue collaborating with several departments, organizations, and representatives as we work on our upcoming budget.

Police 

  • This Week
    • Big congratulations to Evan Cooper on his recent promotion to Sergeant. We know you are already doing a great job in your new role.
    • Officer Mark Mara has been out patrolling with the police motorcycle. This is a great time to remind everyone to be aware of motorcycle safety and look twice to save a life.
    • A child passenger seat inspection event will be on Tuesday, 04/02, from 4-8 pm at The Learning House.  It is open to the public and free.  The McMinnville-Warren County CPS Coalition will be there to assist with inspections, answer questions, and provide child car seats.  Please, Please, Please, take advantage of this opportunity.  We are trying to reduce injury crashes, and car crashes are one of the leading causes of children being injured.
    • Police personnel attending inner department training. Be safe and be seen! As the days get longer we see more people out exercising and enjoying the extended daylight hours. If participating in these activities, please remember that appropriate visibility is key. Carrying a flashlight and reflective clothing is beneficial. As a driver, please remember that more people are out and about and stay alert of your surroundings.

Fire

    • All shifts completed their EMR/EMT recertification on Wednesday and Thursday.
    • Worked on the upcoming budget.

Parks & Recreation 

  • This Week
    • McMinnville Youth Baseball and Softball drafts going on this week
    • Thur, Mar. 28th- Chamber Annual Banquet event
    • Fri, Mar. 29th- Milner Center closed in observance of Good Friday
    • Sat, Mar. 30th- Easter Egg Hunt at Hoover-Millraney and Jungle Jym.  Hunt times are at 9am, 10:45am and 12pm

    • Thur, Apr. 4th and Fri, Apr. 5th- Kindergarten Registration at the Milner Center
    • Sat, Apr. 6th- McMinnville Youth Soccer spring season begins

Park Theater

  • This Week
    • The WCHS Choir held a small event here on Thursday, March 28. 
    • Instead of their usual “Easter Sunday at the Park” event, Christ Community Church will host “Revival at the Park” on Saturday, March 30, at 6 p.m. This event will be free and open to the public.

    • Journey from the Heart: A Tribute to Journey and Heart – Friday, April 5 @ 7:30 pm – Tickets currently on sale

    • Gangstagrass—originally scheduled for Friday, January 19 (postponed due to winter weather conditions)—has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 14, at 7 p.m.! Tickets are on sale now.

Community Development 

  • This Week
    • Historic Zoning Commission Meeting: One COA for the Court House was approved.
    • Planning Commission: Approval of a final plat for property located at the intersection of Faulkner Springs and Lagoon (7 lots).
    • Board of Zoning Appeals: Cancelled due to lack of quorum.
    • BOMA approved the first reading of the revised Building Permit fees.

    • Preparation for a special called Board of Zoning Appeals Meeting
    • Preparation for upcoming BOMA meeting
Water & Wastewater 

  • This Week
    • Several service calls and locates
    • Worked at the shop on clean up after roofing project.
    • Raised manholes and valve lids for street paving crews.
    • Added new motor and installation bracket to clarifier # 1 @ wastewater plant.
    • Repaired a water leak on McKennon Blvd.
    • Checked all Pump Stations.
    • Repaired sewer line on West Main Street.
    • Completed performance reviews.
    • The roofing project is nearly complete, with just a few punch list items needed.
  • Next Week
    • Replace a coupling on ditch aerator # 1 at Wastewater.
    • Will be installing new filters on the lime silos at the wastewater plant.
Public Works 

  • This Week
    • Patched water cuts. 
    • Finished work on the water fountain. 
    • Tinsley is finishing up paving city streets for the spring. 
    • Worked on the upcoming budget.
  • Next Week
    • Continue patching water cuts around town. 
    • Installing culverts for customers
    • Working on replacing sidewalks.
